In its ninth and final season, One Tree Hill aired its last episode on April 4, 2012. Nine years ago, we were watching young actors and actresses play high school teenagers with hopes, dreams and ambitions. We got to watch those teens grow into young adults and make choices both good and bad. We rooted for the heroes and the underdogs and cheered when our favorites came out victorious.

We watched all the fights and back stabbing. We watched the break ups and the make ups. We saw perfect families and broken families. We saw great happiness and great sadness. We saw friends become closer and broken relationships mended. We met new people and said goodbye to old friends. We watched them graduate and move on.

In turn, we grew up with this drama. We learned similar lessons, we made similar mistakes. We realized our goals and ambitions and put to work our minds, bodies and souls. Some of us took paths toward greatness while others took paths towards self destruction. We may not have lived as dramatically as they have but we lived a small portion of what was portrayed whether or not you were the shy nerd, cocky jock, misunderstood artist, destructive cheerleader or the outsider. We were part of that.
As the teenage chapters in our lives come to a close, so does this show. It had a great run. Thanks to the amazing cast and crew for keeping the series alive for as long as it did and may they all find success elsewhere. There will be many great shows and teenage dramas but there will always be only One Tree Hill.
